ARG! Avast ye mateys! Pirate Fest be afoot!!!

Okay, so I admit it. I'm a total con/fest nerd. And it doesn't really matter which con/fest is taking place, as long as dressing up is involved I'll be there. I think that's why I'm a fantasy writer, I love make-believe. It's something I've never grown out of--but don't necessarily think I should. One of my favorite quotes of all time:

"We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing." ~ George Bernard Shaw

Anyway, that brings me to Pirate Fest--coming to St. Louis for three weekends starting September 13th. If you happen to be in the area it should be a really good time. Pirates, ale, swords--all the ingredients for a perfect weekend.

I'm also a frequent attendee of ARCHON and the St. Louis Anime Convention. Like I said, if I can dress up...Last weekend I was downtown eating outside when I noticed everyone walking by wearing nifty little red vests. It turns out the US Postmasters were having their annual Con. Don't worry--I've already reserved my ticket for next year.

  1. LOL! Nifty red vests! You are so funny! I am just the opposite. I absolutely hate Halloween and dressing up. I feel stupid, so I'm glad to know there are people who love it. It's just not me! Have fun at pirate fest - I want a complete run down after you go!

  2. I dunno if they still do, but as of a couple of years ago, Shutterfly (the online photo company) used to have an option if you called customer service to have the menu read to you by a pirate...

    These be yer options...

If order status ye seek, press...
If cursed yer uploads be, press...
If placin' yer order makes ye feel like yer walkin' the plank, press...
    Arrrrr!

  4. OMG! I would SO go to the pirate fest!

I attended my FIRST sci-fi convention this summer in Tulsa, CONestoga. It was, uh, interesting! LOL

I did see ONE guy in a kilt (made my week), but alas, no pirates!
